The French Institute in India (IFI) has opened its first French classes in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Offered directly under the label of the French Embassy in India, the classes are designed and delivered by certified teachers under the supervision of the French language head at IFI.

Alliance Française Network

The Alliances françaises in India are local chapters of the worldwide network of Alliances françaises. Alliance française was founded in 1883 in Paris to promote French language and culture. Today it has 834 branches around the world, including 14 centers in India.

Alliances françaises are meeting places for people who share a common appreciation for France, its language and its culture, and who want to learn more about it.

Alliances françaises are locally registered Indian associations. They offer French language classes and organise a diverse array of activities and events in the areas of higher education and visual and performing arts.

Alliances Françaises have a long and rich history of implantation in India. 2020 marks an important milestone for some Alliances. Alliance Française celebrates 80 years in Bengale, 40 years in Hyderabad and 40 years in Trivandrum.

Alliances Françaises are officially recognized by the Embassy of France in India for the organization of the DELF-DALF examinations, to test one’s proficiency in the French language.
